ABOUT IGNITE

Ignite Hoops is a not-for-profit organization founded with a vision to train the whole athlete through highly competitive basketball experiences. Since 2015, we’ve worked with thousands of athletes in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago and competed in hundreds of area tournaments. We started Ignite Hoops to offer families something much needed and different—a comprehensive program that allows young basketball players to grow through high-level skill training and game experiences, all while sharing and staying true to our core values.

The youth sports culture can often have a negative effect on young people, and we’ve set out to help change that. Through our teams, training, and camps, our passionate and highly experienced coaches work to bring each player’s game to the next level, while also developing their character and leadership on and off the court.

Finding the right competitive levels for athletes is not uniquely an Ignite issue, it is being felt industry wide. Ignite has instituted a four-level competitive offering structure with all levels determined after grade specific tryouts. We are confident that this approach will expedite growth for our athletes as basketball players and as young men and women—better serving our higher-level athletes while also providing a much better experience for those at newly-developing levels.

FAQ’s

What level does my athlete fit into?

  • We use a combination of team tryouts and evaluations and game videos and stats (if applicable) to assess where a player should be placed.

Once my athlete is chosen for a team level, do they stay there? Can they do programs on a different level?

  • Team placements stay the same for one season (i.e. spring 2023) then a player can tryout for a different level. Any programs that do not require a tryout can be done at any level.

My child is a multi-sport athlete. Does Ignite work with multiple travel sport schedules?

  • Many of our players are multi-sport athletes and we value the benefits of playing other sports. Communication between players/parents and coaches is essential as we desire to train and condition athletes in a healthy training environment.

Is financial assistance available?

  • Yes, financial assistance is available. If needed, please email Jana Balis, jbalis@ignitehoops.com

What if my child cannot make a scheduled tournament?

  • Communication between players/parents and coaches is essential. Prior notice and approval is required.
